Kilcullen voter turnout staying ahead
The Kilcullen voting rate at 5.30pm is reported to be 49pc, significantly ahead of the position in the last General Election at this time, writes Brian Byrne.
The national turnout is generally being reported as 'high' which suggests the decision to hold the election on a Saturday at least enabled people to vote earlier than previously.
It remains to be seen if the momentum continues through to 10pm, and if the overall turnout results in a higher vote than the 65.1pc of the 2016 election.
At 12.30pm today the Kilcullen turnout had reached 24pc, substantially ahead of the 17pc at the same time in the 2016 event.
