#GE2020: Halfway tally tightens trends

Tally central at the Count.
With half of the Kildare South boxes tallied, a tighter picture of the placings of the candidates is emerging, writes Brian Byrne.

Sinn Fein's Patricia Ryan remains in pole position with 21.8pc of the votes tallied, from Fine Gael's Martin Heydon with 17.2pc, Labour's Mark Wall at 15.4pc, and Fiona O'Loughlin of Fianna Fail on 11.8pc.

Suzanne Doyle, also Fianna Fail, is next with 9.5pc of the first preferences, not far ahead of Independent Cathal Berry at 9pc. The other Independent, Fiona McLoughlin Healy stands so far at 6.4pc.

The other parties are at this point Green Party 3.2pc, Social Democrats, 2.8pc, AontU 1.5pc and People Before Profit 1.4pc.
