Cllr asks for path at Athgarvan

A path on Council owned land on the Newbridge side of Athgarvan would make it safer for all users of the road, according to Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer.

She has asked that a feasibility study and cost analysis for the path be undertaken by the Council.

The land was purchased by the local authority decades ago with a view to widening that stretch of narrow road, but this was never done.

Cllr O'Dwyer says such a path would not only make it much safer for motorists and cyclists at this very narrow section of road, but it would also allow local residents and children walk safely along this very dangerous part of road.

"I would also be hoping that a cycle lane could be included when the design is being considered," she says.
