Afterschool Assistant required at KCCEC
The position of a new Afterschool Assistant is open at Kilcullen Community Childcare and Education Centre.
The successful applicant will be responsible for assisting in developing, co-ordinating and directing varied activities involved in a busy Afterschool Programme, reporting to the KCCEC Manager.
The facility's Afterschool Service offers breakfast club, school drop off/collection, homework club and Afterschool Activity drop off/collection.
The staff team is as fun loving and energetic as the centre is and all visitors to the service are treated with a warm friendly atmosphere.
The position details are below.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Manager and KCCEC Team for the purpose of implementing and maintaining services and/or programmes.
• Co-ordinate the implementation of activities suitable for this age group.
• Maintain room, and equipment to ensure the health and safety of children at all times.
• Ensure a good standard of hygiene.
• Attend meetings and undergo training as required.
• Be aware of all policies and follow same
• Be aware of child protection procedures and advise manager should you have any concerns about a child.
• Supervise homework activities.
• Accompany children to and from school.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, any breach of confidentiality about children or their families will be treated very seriously.
• Perform other reasonable and relevant duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Person Specifications:
• Minimum FETAC level 5, FETAC level 6 desirable.
• Minimum 1 year work experience in a busy childcare environment.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Kindness, warmth and responsiveness to the needs of children
• Good communication skills, fun loving and active.
• Great sense of humour.
• Occupational first Aid
• Must complete Garda Vetting.
Hours of work: 1pm – 5.30pm / 1.30pm – 6pm. (22.5hrs per week)
