Weather: cool, bright, some political heat

Looks like a good day for the political canvassers, though they want to be careful not to slip on any shadowed icy footpaths in the early part of the morning.

Sunny spells through to mid-afternoon. Temperatures not getting above 4degC, and then dropping fast to freezing by dark.

The pols will probably be glad of a cup of something hot if they're on the night patrol.
