Local roads to be included in KCC 2020 improvements, safety programmes

Old Kilcullen roads to be improved next year.
Kildare County Council has said that the roads in the Old Kilcullen area are to be included in the 2020 programme of improvement works, writes Brian Byrne.

This was confirmed to Cllr Tracey O'Dwyer at this morning's meeting of the Kildare Newbridge Municipal District, where she put down a motion on the matter.

In response to a question on what steps have been taken to implement road safety recommendations made on the Brannockstown to Kilcullen R413 road, she was told that the speed limits on the road are to be reviewed as part of the current county-wide speed limits review.

Officials also said that recommendations from a Coroner's Court on providing special safety surfaces on the road will be included for review in the Council's Roads Programme for 2020.

In the meantime, as part of Cllr O'Dwyer's efforts for that road, ice warning signs have been installed on the R413.
