Garda checks 'effective' on Sunnyhill Road

Random Garda checks on the Sunnyhill Road have been 'very effective' in helping to curb speed and poor driving behaviour, according to local councillor Tracey O'Dwyer.

The councillor says she had asked the Kilcullen gardai to instigate such checks as part of their speed check operations. "I'd like to thank them for doing so, and they will be continued," she says this week in a statement.

A traffic monitoring system was also installed on the road by Kildare County Council, and Cllr O'Dwyer says the information from this has now been collated and sent to the new Area Engineer for Kilcullen who takes over this area on 1 January.

"I will now meet with the engineer to discuss further safety recommendations for the Sunnyhill Road," the councillor says. "This has very much been a team effort and I would like to thank the residents of the Sunnyhill Road, Kilcullen and Naas Guards and the Area Engineer in Kildare County Council for bringing it all together in such a timely manner."
