Libraries lend home energy testing kits
Home Energy Saving Kits are now available to borrow through the County Kildare Library Service so that people can check the energy efficiency of their homes, writes Brian Byrne.
The kits are provided by Codema, Dublin's Energy Agency, and can be borrowed for up to two weeks by those who have a Library Card.
In Kildare they are available from Newbridge, Naas, and Athy libraries.
The kits include a Thermal Leak Detector to measure heat loss through the house's structure, a Plug-In Energy Monitor to work out how much energy individual appliances use, a Temperature and Humidity Meter, a Radiator Key to bleed air out of heating radiators, a Fridge & Freezer Thermometer to establish the most efficient temperatures for those.
