Spooky Memory Monday
We started our October Memory Monday with a scary, Hallowe'en door knocker, writes Mary Orford, which set the tone for a morning which was filled with stories of Puca, Banshee, haunted fields, spirits travelling from Newbridge graveyard to New Abbey graveyard and cyclists with phantom passengers.
In other words, we scared the living daylights out of ourselves and had a thoroughly enjoyable time while doing so! We discovered that lots of pranks were carried out (by those who shall remain unnamed — but the Memory Monday audience knows who you are!) — involving tying thread to door knockers, piling sods of clay against front doors and stealing cabbages and potatoes from fields.
Join us in Kilcullen Heritage Centre on the 11th November at 11am. Our theme on that day will be the First World War. We will remember all those from Kilcullen who were involved. All are welcome.
