Racefield application for sand/gravel extraction lodged

The expected planning application for a sand and gravel extraction facility at Racefield, Ballyshannon, has been lodged by Kilsaran Concrete, writes Brian Byrne.

The company had previously circulated notices of its intention to seek permission for the development in the area.

Extraction will take place on 17.2 acres of a 32.2 acre site and the works will include a new vehicle access point onto the L8006 including boundary treatment and signage.

The proposed extraction operational period is for 12 years plus two further years to complete restoration of the site with the establishment of a terrestrial and freshwater wildlife habitat.
