Kildare concerts musician to play in Kilcullen
Musicians from Ireland and Germany feature in the second International Summer Concert Series at St Brigid's Cathedral, writes Brian Byrne.
And one of the performers will be playing in Kilcullen at the Vigil Mass on Saturday 17 August.
The series is on Friday nights through August, starting on the 9th with 'Pipe and Bow', featuring organist Thomas Charles Marshall, and cellist Adele O'Dwyer. They will perform works by Buxtehude, Muset, Rheinberger and Hahn.
On 16 August organist Leon Tscholl Karlsruhe will play from the works of Bach, Mendelssohn, Brahms and Franck. He will be playing in Kilcullen Parish Church at 6:30pm on the following evening, 17 August.
The Choir of the Church of Christ the King in Frankfurt will be the feature on 23 August, conducted by Wolfgang Weiss. This time the music is from Tallis, Stanford, Bruckner, Hammerschmidt and Senfli.
The final performance in the series will be 'The Lone Piper', with music from the last four centuries played by organist Simon Harden.
All concerts will begin at 8pm, and tickets are €15/€12, available at eventbrite.ie, from the Cathedral, or from Kildare Heritage Centre.
