Free tickets to The Hurling Experience (just 20, will go fast)
The new Kilcullen-based sports tourism initiative, 'The Hurling Experience', is offering 20 free passes to the event for this weekend to people from Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
Although the weekend is already booked to be the busiest since the initiative was launched earlier in the summer, founder Maurice O'Brian is anxious that local people should experience it.
The 20 passes are available on the attraction's website, thehurlingexperience.ie, and are limited to no more than five per person. They can be accessed on the BOOK NOW page as Kilcullenfree2425Aug19.
The sessions availability are the 2.30pm one on Saturday, and at 11.30am and 2.30pm on Sunday.
The experience runs for 2.5 hours and includes audio-visual and story-telling, as well as a period of on-field skills coaching and practice.
All participants are kitted out with helmet, hurley and sliotar. In the course of the experience they will learn basic skills such as how to hold a hurley, ground blocking, pocs, and there will be a demonstration of the more complex skills.
Every session will include a Poc Fada competiton, with two daily winners for U16 and over-16.
The local GAA club will be featured through a short video.
The special free coupons will expire on the website on Sunday if they haven't all been taken up.
