The passing of Bernard Berney

Bernard on right with his lifelong companion in wicked entertainment, Dick Dunphy.
At too far a distance and from a different time zone, the Diary has learned with the deepest of sadness of the death of Bernard Berney.

To Mary and their family, and to all of the community of Kilcullen, probably to every individual of which Bernard has in one of his myriad ways helped to make their lives brighter, we express our most heartfelt condolences.

As pharmacist, actor, comedian, unsung helper, and most of all as the man he was, it is without argument that Kilcullen has today lost a part of its soul.

There will be much said about Bernard in the coming days, all of which which will only be a fraction of the contribution he made to the very fabric of today’s Kilcullen. But most of all, his loss will be most deeply felt by the family he loved so fiercely.

For the moment, on the Diary’s part, these few photographs here may recall some of the many happy memories he created down more recent years, in the company of his friends in Kilcullen Drama Group. They will be particularly devastated at the news.

May he rest in peace.
