New mayor for Kilcullen's twin
There's a new Mayor of Kilcullen's twin town of Saint-Contest in Normandy, following the election of Stéphanie Yon-Courtin to the European Parliament, writes Brian Byrne. He is Mr Jean-Marc Philippe.
Stéphanie became very familiar to Kilcullen people during the visit of an official delegation from the town to Kilcullen during the St Patrick's weekend last March.
She has now resigned her mayoral and municipal council positions at Saint-Contest, but will remain as a councillor in the local department of Calvados. She also plans to continue to work for the canton, Caen 2.
The Calvados council works in the key areas with the commune and its inhabitants for areas such as roads, social assistance to seniors, disabled, child protection, youth, and twinning.
