St Joseph's NS sunny day and ice cream reunion

The sun shone, the ice cream was served along with lots of other goodies, and everything turned out just right for the St Joseph's NS 60th anniversary Reunion today, writes Brian Byrne. Most of all it was for many a morning of memory and reminiscence.

A Roll Book from 1959 was a major attraction for many of the adults there, who had been pupils in the school itself or their parents had been. And it was open on the original teacher's desk from the time the school opened.

A new Time Capsule was buried by the pupils, which principal David Dempsey, who singled out especially the members of the Students Council who had come up with the ideas that made the day the success it was.

He also thanked the parents and the supporters of the school and of the children 'who are at the centre of everything we do'.

All the Diary's photographs of the day are available here.

Enda Byrne, a past pupil, entertained on banjo with Billy Redmond during the morning.
