Luftwaffe crash, battlefield firepower, and republicans in Kildare at Military Seminar tonight
Three 'Kildare History Shorts' presentations tonight in the Newbridge Community Library will kick off the weekend Irish Military Seminar 2019 which runs through tomorrow and Saturday, writes Brian Byrne.
They are, at 19.15pm The story of the crash of a Luftwaffe bomber near Kiltealy, Co Wexford, October 1941, by Michael Rowley; at 19.55pm The advent of firepower on the battlefield 1899: fire and manoeuvre in the early battles of the Boer War, by Liam Kenny; and at 20.45pm That there was significant republican activity in Co Kildare during the War of Independence, by Michael Murphy.
The events are free but booking is essential (see below).
