Another Monday of memories
A mushroom shop at Mile Mill. Cuddy's furniture shop selling sideboards to newly weds. A shoe shop on Hillside. Young boys snagging turnips were paid with a bag of bull's eye sweets and a comic from Bardon's shop.
Was there a forge in Calverstown? writes Mary Orford of the Meitheal of Memories team. Does anyone remember Twomey's shop at Mile Mill Cross?
This morning's Memory Monday in Kilcullen's Heritage Centre was a wonderful walk down retail memory lane! A big go raibh míle maith agaibh to everyone who came and made it so special and a special thanks to David Byrne for bringing newspapers about the moon landing in 1969 and JFK in 1963 - but most of all, a big shout out to Liam Walker for coming up with a long list and fantastic memories. Liam, you should take out special insurance on your memory.
Our next Memory Monday is on July 8th. Our theme will be sport - boxing, cycling, tennis, canoeing, tug o'war, camogie, football, hurling, soccer, handball ... come along and add to the list!
