Sunflower Days for hospice next month
The 29th Hospice Sunflower Days will be held this year on Friday/Saturday 7/8 June, and will raise much needed funds for hospices and specialist palliative home care services across the country, writes Brian Byrne.
Every euro donated and raised through buying Sunflower Day merchandise will stay in the county where they are raised, helping the local hospice to buy new equipment, support frontline posts, and continue to provide a vital service locally.
The 2019 campaign was officially launched by Sunflower ambassador and broadcaster Mary Kennedy. At the event in the St Francis Hospice in Blanchardstown, Dublin, 27 ‘Hospice Hero’ volunteers from throughout the country were given presentations to mark their dedication and support.
Anyone who wants to volunteer to help with this year’s Sunflower Days can do so by logging on to sunflowerdays.ie.
Donations can also be made by texting ‘SUN’ to 50300. These will cost €4 of which a minimum of €3.60 will go to the campaign.
