Organising in train for Community Tea Party

Eight areas in Kilcullen are already committed to participating in the Kilcullen 700 Community Tea Party which is being organised for 21 July, but the organisers have renewed a call for further involvement, writes Brian Byrne.

At the recent Kilcullen 700 Committee meeting, Derek Phelan said that there's no prescription on the size of a group of residents who want to take part.

"It's not restricted to large housing estates, just a few houses getting together can also organise their own party," he said.

The plan is that each group of residents will organise their own local party to begin at noon on the day, and then all groups will converge on the Community Centre for further festivities.

There will be attractions for children, and games organised for adult teams who will be mixed together as a way of all getting to know each other better.

Refreshments will be available at the Community Centre. "Weather permitting, we hope to have everything outside. But if the weather is against us, we'll be operating inside."
