Roy Thompson in the last BAG

Despite trying to avoid the tradition of taking the last gig of the season for myself — on account of this one being the last BAG gig, ever — I have been encouraged by everyone I've tried to book to take the night, to take it myself, writes Roy Thompson. They all tell me it's a fitting end to my tenure at the helm.

I dunno; it feels a little awkward, but I do have some new songs that I'm keen to share, and I do love playing the room. So, I'm gonna go for it, and I hope you'll come and join me, as I bring down the curtain on my eight years of Ballymore Acoustic Gigs, by singing y'all out, myself.

Joining me on the night as special guests will be Kilkenny friends, Gerard James Hough, and Muireann Ryan.

Mick Murphy's Bar, Ballymore Eustace; Monday 27 May. Doors 8:30pm, Showtime 9pm, Admission €12.

Coming soon: Well, I'm afraid there's nowt in the pipeline, as this is the end of my tenure running Ballymore Acoustic Gigs. But, it is likely there will be an announcement soon about the future of live gigs in Mick's! Stay tuned!
