Newbridge LEA tally completed

With the tally finalised for the Newbridge LEA, the big news is that Independent and sitting councillor Fiona McLoughlin Healy has run away with 22.5pc of the first preference vote, writes Brian Byrne.

That’s not really a surprise, she ran a very strong campaign and she has maintained high visibility through the last five years, for reasons that are attractive to voters.

For Kilcullen interest, Fine Gael’s Tracey O’Dwyer achieved 9.6pc of the first preferences as counted by the tally people. Kilcullen’s Antoinette Buckley of Fianna Fail won 5.7pc of the tallied first preferences.

The full tally is Fiona McLoughlin Healy 2,251 (22.5pc) and well over the estimated quota of 1,429. Followed by Fine Gael’s Peggy O’Dwyer 1,063 (10.6pc), Fianna Fail’s Rob Power 1,007 (10.1pc), Tracey O’Dwyer 965 (9.6pc), FF Noel Heavey 718 (7.2pc), Social Democrat Chris Pender 696 (7pc), FF Antoinette Buckley 570 (5.7pc), FF Murty Aspell 477 (4.8pc), FG Tom Dempsey 465 (4.6pc), Green Party Enda Connolly 430 (4.3pc), Independent Morgan McCabe 412 (4.1pc), Sinn Fein Noel Connolly 333 (3.3pc), Aontus Damian Molyneaux 322 (3.1pc), Labour Ciara O’Reilly 198 (2pc), Independent Gerard Delaney 104 (1.0pc).
