Newbridge-Kilcullen boxes not tallied yet

While the count staff are stopped for lunch, we’re still waiting for the Newbridge boxes to be opened at the Punchestown Count Centre, writes Brian Byrne.

Waiting particularly is Kilcullen’s FF candidate Antoinette Buckley, looking very relaxed (“last night was the first proper sleep I had in two weeks”) with husband Jim.

Waiting too are Fianna Fail’s Rob Power (above), and Noel Heavey (below with Deputy Fiona O’Loughlin).

Of interest to the southern Kilcullen area, the tally for the Athy LEA shows Labour’s Mark Wall well in the lead with 27pc of first preferences, from FG’s Ivan Keatley with 15.8pc, Labour’s Aoife Breslin with 15.7pc, Fianna Fail’s Brian Dooley at 10.5pc, the same party’s Emmett Kane (6.2pc) and Veralouise Behan (5.8pc), Sinn Fein’s Thomas Redmond with 5.8pc, Independent Tony McNamee with 5.6pc, FG’s Ciara O’Keefe with 4.8pc and Social Democrat Samantha Kenny with 2.8pc. The turnout was 48.3pc.
