Fiona McLoughlin Healy elected

In the first count of the Newbridge LEA, Independent Fiona McLoughlin Healy was deemed elected when she polled 2,331 votes, giving her a surplus of 864 which is now being distributed in the second count, writes Brian Byrne.

The surplus is being allocated amongst the other 14 candidates, whose first round performance was as follows.

Fine Gael’s Peggy O’Dwyer 1,061, Fianna Fail’s Rob Power 1,024, FG Tracey O’Dwyer 998, FF Noel Heavey 732, Social Democrat Chris Pender 711, FF Antoinette Buckley 590, FF Murty Aspell 515, FG Tom Dempsey 475, Green Party Enda Connolly 441, Independent Morgan McCabe 419, Sinn Fein Noel Connolly 340, Aontus Damian Molyneaux 319, Labour Ciara O’Reilly 206, Independent Gerard Delaney 106.

The electorate for the area is 22,464, 10,485 votes were cast, and 217 were deemed invalid. The quota is 1,467.
