Riptide Movement to star in Naas arts festival

Dublin band The Riptide Movement will be the headline act for the fourth annual Midsummer Arts Festival which takes place on Friday 21 and Saturday 22 June in Naas.

Tickets at €25 went on sale yesterday at The Moat Theatre for their gig in St David's Church on the Saturday.

This year, the festival moves to Abbey Street, running from The Moat Theatre down to Basin Street and to the Harbour. The theme for 2019 is 'Mythology'.

Irish singer John Spillane is writing and recording a new song about the town of Naas and its local mythology. He will be accompanied by a Pop Up Choir when he performs the song for the first time at the Midsummer Arts Festival.

Other attractions will include a Pop-up Fairy Trail by Nature’s Sculptures, up-cycled decorations and workshops by Dross Evolution, and an Art Walk and workshops on Photography, Drumming, Arts and Crafts and Dance.

Naas Adventure Centre will offer kayaking and water zorbing in the Harbour area and Brilliant Events will be back to entertain families. A Reptile Zoo, reflecting the Naas emblem of the serpent, will feature for the first time.

An O’Brien’s Craft Beer Festival will take place in The Moat Theatre on Saturday 22 June, from 2pm to 6pm. An over 18 event, tickets will cost €15 and will be available from O’Brien’s Wines Naas and The Moat Theatre.
