French visitors arrive
The Twinning delegation from Saint-Contest arrived safely last evening and had an informal get together and welcome supper at their host family home, with the Kilcullen Twinning Group and friends, writes Brian Byrne.
The delegation comprises Stéphanie Yon-Courtin (Mayor), Maud Billard, Stéphane Guillot, Rémi Compagnon, and Régis Pétri.
They met with a number of local representatives last evening too, including Martin Heydon TD, Fiona O'Loughlin TD, and Cllr Rob Power.
As part of the evening, they viewed a welcome video prepared by the pupils of CPC and Scoil Bhride.
This morning the delegation begin a busy day with a visit to Nolans Butchers at 9am, following which they travel to the Irish Equine Centre in Kill.
They'll be back in time to watch the France v Italy match at 12.30 in a local pub, and perhaps get to see part of the Ireland v Wales match after they have attended the opening of the Valley Fairy Trail at 2.30pm.
A history tour of Kilcullen is also scheduled, to include Berney Bros Saddlery, after which they will have dinner in Crean's Place. The day will round off with a 1798-themed concert in the Town Hall Theatre.
And tomorrow? Well, we'll give them a breather and look at that later, but it's another busy one.
