Children's book launch in Woodbine
The local launch of 'Pog', the new book by children's author Padraig Kenny, will take place in Woodbine Books on Saturday 6 April, starting at 3pm.
After his bestselling children's book 'Tin', Padraig's latest novel is the story of David and Penny, who arrive in a strange new home in a forest. It is inhabited by magical creatures, including Pog who is one of the 'First Folk', tasked with protecting the boundary between the worlds.
But there's a dark side to the forest, which draws David into the forest, on the suggestion that there’s a way he can bring his dead mother back.
The book is suitable for children aged from ten upwards. It is published by Chicken House Books.
Padraig Kenny is from Newbridge and a graduate of Maynooth University where he obtained a master's degree in Anglo-Irish writing. He started his career writing radio drama and subsequently as an arts journalist he has contributed work to the Irish Times, the Sunday Tribune, the Sunday Independent, the Irish Examiner, and several other publications.
His debut novel 'Tin' was published in 2018 and was Waterstones Children’s Book of the Month. It has been nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal and the Northern Ireland Book Awards. Tin has also been shortlisted for several other awards including the Irish Book Awards, the Great Reads Award, the Redbridge Children’s Book Award, and The Wirral Children’s Book Award.
