Tracey O'Dwyer from Brannockstown was selected last night to be a Fine Gael candidate in the Newbridge LEA, in the upcoming local elections, writes Brian Byrne.

Also selected with her at the FG Newbridge District Convention were Peggy O'Dwyer and Tom Dempsey.

All three are pictured above with Martin Heydon TD and Senator Tony Lawlor who chaired the Convention.

Deputy Heydon said the selected candidates 'provide a strong and well balanced team across community, locations and styles'.  He noted that the town of Kilcullen has moved to a third electoral area in three elections, having been in the Naas area in 2014 and the Athy area in 2009.

"As a strong community driven town, Kilcullen needs its own Councillor to represent the town and its hinterlands including Brannockstown and Two Mile House," he said. "I believe our three selected candidates have the qualities and skills to provide strong representation and I look forward to working with them in the months and weeks ahead as we work towards polling day of 24th May.”
