Knitting for Kilcullen 700
The Tuesday knitting group SUAS which meets in the Parish Centre is very busy at the moment preparing for Kilcullen's first 'Yarn Bombing' event, writes Brian Byrne.
They're preparing knitted bunting, chains, garlands and even a replica of the tower of Old Kilcullen. It is one of the Kilcullen 700 events celebrating the 700th anniversary of the building of the first bridge at Kilcullen across the Liffey.
The knits will be used to decorate the bridge in advance of the June Bank Holiday.
The group's own efforts are being augmented by a number of other knitters around town, and there have also been offers of help and advice from a knitting group in Newbridge with experience of yarn bombing.
All donations of wool and more knitters are welcome. Offers can be left or notified to the Parish Office.
