Elle León seeks help to achieve EP ambition

A Kilcullen singer-songwriter who now lives in Barcelona in Spain is hoping to produce her first studio EP of her own material this summer, writes Brian Byrne.

Ellen León Gallagher — she uses the name Elle León for her music — is a former Scoil Bhríde and CPC student who spent her childhood growing up in Kilcullen.

"What I loved most specifically about our little town was being part of the music classes in CPC and its carol services," she recalls. "Also performing in Brian Brady Youth Theatre for years doing musicals in the Town Hall, being a student at Talented Kids Kilcullen, performing in Dylstock in O'Connells with my cover duo 'Sombra', and the music at the River Festival."

Elle also gave contemporary dance lessons in the Community Centre. She is now 23 years old. "I have been super inspired this last year living in Barcelona, where I make a living as a language assistant in a secondary school (kids seem to love learning through music at the end of lessons!). But my vision is set clear on the objective to push forward with my original music."

To achieve this she needs need the help of highly skilled professionals to get the EP sounding the best that it can. She has set up a Go Fund Me page to help move the campaign on to raise the extra €1,000 beyond what she can afford to pay herself.

"This money will help me cover the cost of session musicians, paying for days spent in the studio (I will be recording both in Arenys, outside of Barcelona, and with producer Víctor Valiente in the city centre), the editing and mixing progress and promotion. A lot of work will be put in because I feel we can make something very special."

Elle's Go Fund Me page is here, so anyone from her Kilcullen days is very welcome to help her achieve this particular ambition. Who know where it will eventually lead ...
