'River of Tulips' for Kilcullen 700

A 30-metre 'River of Tulips' will be a feature of the north end of Kilcullen for the upcoming Kilcullen 700 celebrations, writes Brian Byrne.

Members of Kilcullen Community Action were told at the group's recent meeting that 8,000 tulip bulbs have been ordered for the feature, which will be located opposite Dunleas Garage.

The 'river' will be approximately 2.5 metres wide, and the meeting discussed details of laying out the feature and planting the bulbs.

Meanwhile, discussions are also ongoing on an idea to commission a permanent sculpture to mark Kilcullen 700. Our picture below is of a model produced by local artist Noel Scullion.

The next meeting of Kilcullen Community Action will take place on Thursday of this week, 29 November, at 8pm in The Hideout.
