A key member of Murphy Surveys technical staff will be contributing to a major construction IT technologies event in Croke Park later this week, writes Brian Byrne.

Head of Digital Engineering at the company Ricardo Oliveira will be speaking at the two-day CitA Tech Live event, on Thursday 8 November, on ‘Meaningful Point Clouds’. Point clouds are data points defined by coordinates, which are used in 3D modelling in medical imaging, architecture, 3D printing, manufacturing, 3D gaming and various virtual reality (VR) applications.

Mr Oliveira will speak on how the technique is becoming the tool of choice to rapidly and accurately capture geometric information of the built environment.

Murphy Surveys will also have a stand at CitA Tech Live with experts available to discuss the company's latest innovations, technology and survey methods for geospatial data capture and visualisation.

The Kilcullen based company provided gratis its expertise in the development of the concept plan for the Market Square Redevelopment Project, which has recently been granted €200,000 urban renewal funding towards its estimated €600,000 cost.
