GAA Ladies Juniors off to battle the Slashers
The Kilcullen Ladies GAA Juniors team headed off this morning to Longford, to do battle with the intimidatingly-named Longford Slashers, writes Brian Byrne.
They've worked hard to reach this Leinster Ladies Club Football Quarter Final, and they beat four Intermediate teams on their journey towards it — Carbury, Clane, Maynooth and St Fechin's.
Niall Timmons is team manager, helped by John Glendon, Aidan Gleeson, and Dan Bell.
"They're ready for this," John Glendon told the Diary this morning as the girls gathered for their bus trip to the midlands. "They've been training since February for it. Now all we can do is let them loose on the pitch and they'll play their best."
The game starts at 2.30pm.
FULL TIME UPDATE: Kilcullen: 1-13 (16), Longford Slashers: 3-11 (20).
Facebook post quote: "Not to be today for the Rags, played their hearts out. We lost to an Intermediate side in the end, girls have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of today! An unbelievable effort from the girls all year. Still County Champions and it’s important we remember that!"
