Dawn from Woodbine on 'Today with Sean O'Rourke'

Kilcullen's local bookshop entrepreneur Dawn Behan of Woodbine Books was interviewed on RTE Radio 1's 'Today with Sean O'Rourke' this morning, along with author Donal Ryan, writes Brian Byrne.

They were there to promote the inaugural Irish Book Week 2018 which runs from 27 October to 3 November as a nationwide celebration of books and bookshops.

Dawn talked about have achieved her 'dream' of opening a bookshop, and among other things Donal Ryan spoke about the state of books and reading in Ireland today, on which he was positive.

Donal will be the guest at a special event in Woodbine Books on the afternoon of Saturday 3 November, where he will participate in a public interview about his books and the life of a writer.

His first published novel, The Spinning Heart, has won several awards including Newcomer of the Year in the Irish Book Awards 2012, Guardian First Book Award in 2013, and the European Union Prize for Literature in 2015. It was also long-listed for the Booker Prize in 2013.

His other books are The Thing about December (2013), A Slanting of the Sun: Stories (2015), All We Shall Know (Sept 2016), and From a Low and Quiet Sea (2018).
