Big thank you from GAA for Fun Day support

Some scenes from the Fun Day.
The auction of the Limerick jersey at Friday night's Social Night raised €450, writes Kilcullen GAA Club's Dara Clarke, adding to the €3,976 raised at last weekend's Family Fun Day.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Fun Day and End of Season Celebration for the juvenile academy. It was a great day, with something for everyone, including a giant Floss dance led by Molly Aspell, Saoirse O’Brien and Katie Willis.

On the bikes, the mentors faced the turbo cycle challenge with great trepidation, with the ‘boy’ mentors being the first to reach the 250K mark, cheered on by their mentees to ‘put the effort in’! Thankfully, our first aiders were able to enjoy their burgers during the mentor challenge, with no-one falling off the bikes. Meanwhile, another competition was taking place on the pitch with the mentors trying to out-do each other for the longest Kick and Poc Fada. Congratulations to John Stone on winning the Declan Hannon signed hurl and sliothar.

The little ones were rewarded for their great season with medals, goodies and a chance to ‘sponge their mentor’, who duly stepped up to the board, to be drenched in the ‘magic’ water, that they use to heal all ills on the playing field.

On the pitch, the Family Team challenge was great fun, with GAA basketball, wellie darts and more water. Well done ‘Team Fortnite’ who were awarded with the inaugural cup and lovely big medals.

We were treated to some exhibition matches from the younger girls and boys in football, camogie and hurling, who were delighted to show off their skills, while one of our recently trained teenage members got the opportunity to referee his first match.

In the clubhouse, the raffle, cake sale, face painting, club shop and teas/coffees were busy all day, with everyone admiring the newly painted clubhouse, wall of fame and jersey display.

Thank you to the following for sponsorship and donation of prizes: Techcrete, Home Instead Senior Care, AES, Secure Courier Services Ltd, Profile Systems Holdings, Vanspeed, No. 1 Fitness, Advanced Services, The River Café, The Hideout, Kildare Village, Kalbarri Cookery School, Osprey Leisure Centre, K-Med, O’Connells Bar, Applegreen, Linda Doyle Beauty and Nutterly Butterly.
