Woodbine getting ready for Hazel's latest book launch
They're getting ready for Saturday's launch of Hazel Gaynor's latest book in Woodbine Books, writes Brian Byrne.
There's a lot of advance interest in the event and in the book itself, according to Dawn Behan, who has been working on the main display window in advance of the arrival of 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Daughter'.
The local launch on Saturday begins at 2pm, and it promises to be as much about fun and conviviality as literary.
Meanwhile, Saoirse Behan is also looking forward to Saturday, but for a quite different reason ... she's scheduled to make her first skydive during the morning.
"I'm feeling surprisingly calm at this stage," she told the Diary today as she went about her work in the bookshop. "Because I'm really scared of heights."
Scared or not, in addition to raising the cost of the dive itself, she has raised €1,000 for the Youth Suicide Prevention Ireland charity. So, double celebrations due at Woodbine Books on Saturday.
