Power outage closes businesses

A number of businesses in lower Kilcullen were closed today because of a planned power outage, writes Brian Byrne.

These included Bank of Ireland and the River Cafe, among a total of over 120 customers affected.

The planned outage was due to essential maintenance and pole replacement work in the market square area by ESB Networks.

The outage is scheduled to end at 6pm.
