The passing of Betty Browne
It is with the deepest sadness that the Diary records the death of our neighbour Betty Browne of Sunbury Close, on 12 May 2018 in the dedicated care of the staff at St Brigid's Hospice, Moore Abbey, Monasterevin.
Beloved wife of her late husband Jack, Betty will be deeply missed by their son CiarĂ¡n, by her daughter in law Jane and her grandchildren, by her sisters, and by a wide and inclusive circle of friends.
She will be reposing at her home from 2pm tomorrow, Monday, until the conclusion of prayers which begin at 8pm. Removal on Tuesday morning at 10.30am for her funeral mass at 11 in Kilcullen Parish Church, followed by burial in New Abbey Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations, if desired, to St Brigid's Hospice, Moore Abbey, for which purpose there will be a donation box in the church.
Betty's passing will be a particular loss to those of us who have known her for so many years in Sunbury. She was an unfailing friend, always willing to get stuck in to whatever needed to be done. Her wry wit invariably made us smile, and her own smile lit up wherever place she was paused, conversing with a friend or acquaintance. Her kindness was a constant comfort, and her passion for gardening made her home an oasis and a beacon of many colours on even the dullest of days.
Thank you for being who you were, Betty. We will all miss you terribly. Rest in peace.
