KWETB the local patron preference for Brannoxtown NS
The ballot by members of Brannockstown community last night on future patronage for the local national school came out emphatically in favour of the Kildare Wicklow Education & Training Board, writes Brian Byrne.
The Acting Chief Executive of KWETB, Rory O'Toole, has been informed of the result.
The vote was taken following presentations last evening by three patron groups who had expressed an interest in taking over the school, which had been closed by the current patron, the Archbishop of Dublin.
As the meeting heard last night, it is now up to the Department of Education to respond to the Archbishop's request to divest his patronage of Brannoxtown NS.
The vote doesn't have any direct effect on any future patron appointment by the Department, but it is hoped that the preference of the community would be considered.
The meeting last night was organised by the Save Our School Brannoxtown committee.
