Thank you, for making my day
Yesterday, in the Heritage Centre, Kilcullen, I met the most fantastic, artistic, funny, talented children and, together, we had the best fun possible, writes Mary Orford. I'd like to thank each and every one of them, and their parents and grandparents, for coming along and making the story reading and colouring competitions so enjoyable.
I was there to make sure they enjoyed themselves but, in reality, what happened was I was the one who thoroughly enjoyed myself.
I have no fear for the future of our country. It's in very safe hands — from one boy who insisted Renny, the fox, ate Iggy and Matty, the rabbits; to another boy who came back to join in the colouring; to the father who spent quality time with his daughters doing some artistic colouring; to my wonderful next door neighbours who are talented artists and all-round nice guys, to the children whose grandparents (and great grandparents!) I remember so well.
To all of you (and to my friend Mary who gave me so much help) — it's a big thank you from me. I'm proud to say I'm from the wonderful town of Kilcullen.
