No St Patrick's Day Parade this year
At a recent meeting to examine the possibility of a St Patrick's Day Parade this year, it was decided not to go ahead with one, writes Brian Byrne.
"There were only the same four people who organised last year's," says Noel Clare. "No new blood. So we decided that we'll give it a go for next year, but will start planning soon after Easter 2018."
In the meantime, it is still open to any other group to organise one for this year, though time is very short.
It was also noted at the meeting that there was 'very little' support from the core business community of Kilcullen at last year's parade. "Only three businesses from the Main Street were represented," Noel Clare commented, "which is a pity as the potential is there for so many businesses to benefit in different ways from the parade, either on the day itself or by way of promotion of their own business and the town in general."
