Cheque presented from Mac & Norman run

A cheque for €25,550, the proceeds of the 15th Mac and Norman's Tractor Rally, was presented to the Irish Cancer Society last night in Walls of Kilgowan, writes Noel Clare.

The cheque was accepted by the CEO of The Irish Cancer Society John McCormack — who is due to retire shortly after 29 years of service. "But I could not go until I had attended here tonight," he told the large crowd in attendance at the presentation.

He thanked the committee for all their hard work and also the entire community for their support. "The money will help to provide a whole range of services. It will help to fund a Cancer Nurse Line, a Night Nurse Service, Volunteer Driving, Cancer Prevention Programmes as well as Cancer Research Programmes."

The Irish Cancer Society is the largest voluntary funder of Cancer Research in Ireland and research projects in Ireland and throughout the world mean that six out of ten cancer patients now survive the disease.

After 15 years of running the tractor Rally the total donated to the Irish Cancer Society is just in excess of €435,550. Well done to all involved.
