Non-opening of Brannoxtown NS hits preschool plans
One of the sideline casualties of the non-reopening of Brannoxtown NS is the Acorns Pre-school service that was due to open along with it this September, writes Brian Byrne.
Acorns is a family run Early Childhood Education service that has been operating in Hollywood for the past 12 years, and had planned to open a service at Brannoxtown, something which had been seen as missing from the area. An after-school club was included in the planned service.
However, with only two students turning up for the new school year last week, there clearly wasn't going to be users for Acorns in Brannockstown.
Jane Keogh of Acorns told the Diary that they are still planning to open next year, in the 'hopeful' expectation that the school itself will reopen.
