No plan for market square until after public consultation
The organisers of the public consultation event on the market square planned for 30 September want to emphasise that no plan has yet been made for its redevelopment, writes Brian Byrne.
There will be on view a number of plans of the square and the town as it is, including current use plans, and a 3D map modelled by Murphy Surveys Ltd.
"Before any plan is worked on, we want to have the public consultation so that residents and businesses don't feel decisions about the future of market square are by a few people on a committee," says Antoinette Buckley, chair of the KCA sub-committee working on the re-development proposal. "We will gather all the information from the public consultation and then Laura Bowen will work on a plan."
The committee hopes to have a plan ready for planning application by Christmas, and in January or February they will also sublit it with an application for funding under the Town & Village Renewal grant scheme.
The 30 September event will also be a big family day, with music, entertainment and food available between 11am and 4pm on the day.
