Biodiversity Week events
The Mayor of Kildare, Cllr Ivan Keatley, will officially launch the Kildare events schedule for National Biodiversity Week 2017 at one of the events taking place in Kilcullen, writes Brian Byrne.
It is the Kilcullen Community Action/Tidy Towns hosted afternoon examining Life in the Liffey with Dr Jan Baars from UCD, on Saturday afternoon.
The event begins at 2.30pm and will be a hands on, interactive presentation, examining the fish and invertebrates that live beneath the water in The Liffey.
Those interested should meet at the riverbank at rear of An Tearmann.
And on Tuesday 23 May, there will be a Dusk Chorus Walk as part of the week, setting out from the Town Hall at 6.45pm.
This is also a free event and is being presented by Kilcullen Tidy Towns in conjunction with Kildare BirdWatch.
The event will begin with a presentation on the birds of the area including their songs and calls, followed by the Dusk Chorus walk in the locality.
The talk will be presented by Neil Bourke and Tom McCormack, Chairman of BirdWatch Kildare.
