Litter picking resumes
The Saturday morning litter picks by volunteers with KCA/Tidy Towns have been resumed following the Christmas/New Year break, writes Brian Byrne.
Areas which have been allocated to volunteers include Naas Road to Logstown, Motorway Bridge to Garda Station, Garda Station to traffic lights, New Abbey Road/Valley Park.
Volunteers are being sought for River Walk, traffic lights to Logstown, and the School Road to Castlemartin.
The recent meeting of KCA discussed a major clean-up needed in the Community Centre area, and a letter is to be sent to all clubs, schools and other organisations related to the area to request their assistance.
It has also been agreed to look at the possibility of installing a small number of litter bins and review how they impact on littering in their respective areas.
Kildare County Council is to be contacted regarding frequency of emptying those bins already in place.
Some businesses are to be asked to supply bins at their premises.
