Christmas Eve Service in St Patrick's, Carnalway
There will be a service of Holy Communion on Christmas Eve at 11.45pm in St Patrick's Church, Carnalway, writes Brian Byrne.
All are welcome to the event, which will without doubt be deeply spiritual in absolutely beautiful surroundings.
The Church is a splendid example of its kind, rebuilt in 1894 with strong 11th-century style Hiberno-Roman detailing inside and out, even to the gutters. This work was carried out under the supervision of the Diocesan Architect.
However, the rebuild was done without proper foundations, and 11 years ago a renovation programme was completed to save it from collapsing.
