Many hands make light work

A fantastic turn out on Thursday night from the Nicholastown residents, writes Eoin Houlihan, communications director with Kilcullen Tidy Towns.

Over 30 people took part in the annual Summer clean-up. Was it the ice cream or the gossip that brought us all out? Not sure, but wow what a lot of work we all achieved. Weeding, clearing around the trees, trimming the lower branches of the trees as well as brushing and picking up litter.

The grass verge out on the main road has been encroaching on the footpath slowly over the years. However, thanks to Ray's new cutting gadget, the footpath is now a foot wider. The entrance stones have been really brightened up with some lovely flowers thanks to Jack. The flowers were from The Garden Shop Kilcullen.

There was a great turn out from the children of the estate. Fantastic to see them getting so involved at a young age. They had great fun doing their bit to make their space a lovely spot to play and hang out.

We didn't get to do everything but a great start and we'll be out again soon in force to get it ship shape for the Tidy Towns Competition! Well done one and all.
