Halverstown pupils plant garden
Pupils at St Josephs NS in Halverstown planted a new sensory garden on Friday in beautiful sunshine, writes Marion Sherlock.
Children from the middle and junior classrooms raked the beds to ensure they were level, lifted the stones and dug out the area for the dry stream. Then they filled the stream with pebbles and planted the plants and bulbs. Finally they added some finishing touches — a water fountain and some wind chimes.
Next week it is planned to complete pathways and a fairy garden.
The school thanks the following people who so kindly donated the plants for the garden — The Garden Shop in Kilcullen; Ger's Fruit and Veg, Kilcullen; Woodies, Newbridge; and the Johnstown Garden Centre.
