The Saint is home, for drama and Punchestown
Kilcullen’s New Jersey man Donal St Leger has arrived home to town for Punchestown Races, writes Brian Byrne. He’s pictured on the right with Vivian Clarke and Mary Masterson in McTernans.
One of the wild geese who regularly checks in to the Diary for news of home, he’ll be going to Saturday night’s performance of The Quare Land, in the company of old friend Gerry Malone who’s coming down from Dublin.
Donal is the reason that Kilcullen Drama Group’s production of the play happened at all, as he suggested to director Eilis Phillips and Fergal Sloan that they should go to see it when they were in NYC on holiday last November.
Meantime, with two fully booked weeks under the bath, the Drama group is putting on two more extra nights next week, Wednesday and Thursday. Positively the last performances, before Vivian Clarke and Bernard Berney pull the plug and drain the bath for the final time.
