Is your family fit? Prove it!

A Fittest Family competition is being organised by Kilcullen GAA for the weekend of 4/5 June as a novel and fun way of raising funds for the club, writes Brian Byrne.

With the Bank Holiday Monday being available for recovery, it should attract a good entry to the event, which will have heats on the Saturday and Sunday morning and the semis and final on the Sunday afternoon.

The contestant families — who can come from neighbouring parishes to Kilcullen — will raise sponsorship of a minimum of €350, and there will also be facilities for local businesses to advertise in programmes and on the competition courses.

Contestant families can use a variety of events for raising sponsorship, such as runs, table quizzes, tug o wars, or whatever.

Obstacle courses will be set up on suitable pitches, and additional funds can be raised by charging a small entry fee to spectators or charging for programmes.

The team makeup is three family members, one over 40, one female, and all over 16. More details on the criteria and rules will be available soon.
